The role

All interns have a different experience at ClearlySo as all interns perform tasks related to their strengths and knowledge background.

Tasks may include (but are not excluded to):

• Researching and writing about social businesses and enterprises.
• Contacting companies directly in relation to the website.
• Uploading content to website.
• Exploring online marketing opportunities.
• Researching relevant reports and articles about the sector to link to the site.
• Writing news synopses on relevant stories.
• Helping to organize events.
• Assisting with day to day tasks of running an office.

Hours and pay

Internships are intended to be a fair deal for all and mutually beneficial, with interns gaining valuable work experience and exposure to the social business sector and to the clients we work with. We also advise interns on how to improve their resume, expand their network of contacts and prepare them for job applications and interviews.

ClearlySo internships are ideally suited to undergraduate or postgraduate students, and we are willing to discuss making this role a more formal ‘placement’ as part of your studies.

The internship is unpaid. However, travel expenses and a lunch allowance will be provided.

We would like interns to work for a minimum of 2 days a week, although a commitment of 3 or more would be preferable. We would also like interns to commit to a 3 months with us.

Background and experience

We are looking for smart, enthusiastic, and energized students who are committed to making a meaningful contribution to the growing Canadian Third Sector. As we’re still a growing organization, we want to utilize any and all skills our interns possess be it web design, marketing, finance, accounting, sales, writing, research, graphic design, event planning, or basket weaving. Candidates should be currently enrolled in either University as an undergraduate or postgraduate or in College. We are willing to discuss making this role a more formal ‘placement’ as part of your studies. Candidates should also posses the following qualities:

• A clear interest in the social business sector
• Fluent in English
• Excellent writing skills
• Proven competence with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Motivated, can-do attitude
• Ability to work under pressure
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Sense of humour
